DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome and browse through some of Warrington Archive’s impressive collection of works magazines – a valuable source of information of local industry and a glimpse into Warrington people’s everyday histories.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorks Magazines, in-house magazines, or staff newsletters. Whatever you want to call them, they can offer a wealth of information about the ordinary working lives of Warrington people.\nNot only do they show the processes that made up our ancestors’ work lives, but they can also be a rich source of genealogical information. New employees, marriages, promotions, long service records, and retirements can all be listed. You may even find that your ancestor was a member of the company sports club, amateur dramatic group, or musical society.\nWorks magazines can even be a way to find that elusive photograph of a relative, often showing the staff of various departments at work or play.\nWarrington Archives have a good selection of works magazines for a variety of companies, including the likes of The “Crosfield Chronicle”, Rylands Brothers’ “Live Wire”, or Burtonwood Brewery’s “Top Hat”.\nArchivist Philip Jeffs will be there to help you navigate your way through the various periodicals.\nHeritage Open Days is back this September with thousands of free events and experiences taking place across England. Each year, millions of people take part in a nationwide celebration of their heritage, community and history.
