Warrington’s Christmas Toy Appeal now open

Warrington’s Christmas Toy Appeal is now open for donations to ensure every child gets a present this Christmas.

The not-for-profit project works closely with a variety of causes and organisations to help those in need during the festive season.

To make sure no child gets left out this Christmas, the appeal will provide each child aged 0-14-years-old with a selection of gifts, and those aged 15-18-years-old will also get a gift or a gift card which can be redeemed within shops in Warrington town centre, such as Golden Square Shopping Centre. Every child will also receive a pair of pyjamas.

The shop on Sankey Street, which is run by volunteers, is now open and accepting donations for all age ranges.

Ben, manager at Warrington’s Christmas Toy Appeal shop, said: “It has been an amazing effort from everybody involved so far. We have estimated we are going to be looking after 2,500 children this year, so support is so important.

“We have 500 referrals so far already, however, when Warrington’s community is called upon people generally come and deliver.”

Each child will get child three small toys, two medium-sized toys and one large toy but there’s a real need for toy donations for older children aged between 11 and 14-years-old.

To donate you can visit the shop at 26-28 Sankey Street, Warrington between the hours of 10am-4pm, Wednesday to Saturday, or you can visit the customer services centre inside Golden Square Shopping Centre or head to Warrington Food Bank.

Only a child who has been referred can receive a gift via the toy appeal. Referrals for the toy shop are accepted via Warrington Borough Council, Warrington Wellbeing, Sure Start Centres, schools, local support workers and Warrington Food Bank.

The last day for donations will be on Saturday, December 23rd.
