Warrington-based Graphic Designer, Marco Frezza, is returning to his first love of art after putting his energy into his family and career.
In his first solo show as a practicing visual artist, he is teaming up with Warrington Museum and Art Gallery to display ‘Measuring Ghosts’ from Friday, September 12th to Sunday, November 9th
The free exhibition will feature 10 paintings that explore the beauty of imperfection and the impossibility of completion. It has been guest curated by Pete Mercer, founder and editor of STAT Magazine, further raising the profile of the show. Visitors can view the work at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, Museum Street, WA1 1JB.
Marco has a degree in graphic design but has loved art since he was a child, always doodling and making things. Although he grew up in north Manchester and has lived around the North West all his life, he settled in Warrington in 2017 and now considers the town home.
Marco said: “While I had some beginnings of success as a graphic artist, this is my first solo show as a practicing visual artist, so it feels incredibly special and the first big milestone in a whole new chapter.”
Influenced by the likes of Gerhard Richter, Ellsworth Kelly and Mary Corse, Marco describes his work as being about process and energy – a record of gestures and decisions that never fully resolve.
He added: “We originally moved here for my wife’s work, but we love the town, and it would take a lot to make us leave. Our kids have grown up here, our friends are here and our work. I owe Warrington a lot.”
Now Marco is looking forward to sharing this milestone in his practice with the Warrington community.
