Warrington’s famous Golden Gates confirmed for Tour of Britain Stage 5 finishing line
Warrington town centre’s Covid recovery plan has received a huge boost with the announcement that we will play host to a stage finish of the Tour of Britain for the first time this year when stage five culminates at the town’s famous Golden Gates on Thursday 9 September.
Warrington Borough Council and race organisers SweetSpot had previously announced an agreement to host the Tour of Britain 2021 for the first time, with today marking confirmation that residents and visitors can look forward to the excitement of a stage finish in September.
Warrington BID Manager, Nick White said, ‘The influx of visitors which this high profile event will attract, is fantastic news for the profile of the town centre, putting Warrington and our historic Golden Gates in front of an international audience. I hope that local residents will come into the town centre to watch the world’s best riders and support our hospitality and retail businesses.’
