Warrington Museum & Art Gallery has announced the launch of “Creativity Cove,” a brand-new, family-friendly attraction designed to spark curiosity and creativity in young minds.
The interactive space, located in the Museum’s former Wren Gallery, has been completely transformed into a welcoming environment where children can explore, play and even run their own mini museum.
With a plinth to display their Duplo or Stickle Bricks masterpieces, ample space for creating artworks and tools to care for their “exhibits,” children can experience museum curation in a playful setting. It also features a variety of books, board games and puzzles, along with a blackboard for leaving messages or drawings for others. Additionally, there are plenty of costumes and accessories for dress-up, allowing kids to dive into imaginative play.
The goal of Creativity Cove is to provide a community-focused space where young families can feel at home in one of the country’s oldest museums. Parents can relax, knowing their children are entertained and safe in this thoughtfully designed environment.
The creation of Creativity Cove was spearheaded by Laura Mercer and Sophie New from Culture Warrington, the charity responsible for Warrington Museum, Warrington Arts Festival and Pyramid and Parr Hall. The project was informed by extensive consultations with local families, early years settings and community partners to ensure it meets the needs and desires of the community.
Launched alongside Warrington Arts Festival to enhance the family show “Lilo Lost It” by Move Manchester, Creativity Cove has already become a beloved fixture at the Museum. It is now the permanent home for the Museum’s popular Crafternoons on Saturdays and school holiday crafts on Wednesdays and Fridays. It is part of a broader initiative by Culture Warrington to expand its early years offerings across its venues.
