As part of a £4.9 million redevelopment project, young creatives will have the opportunity to help relaunch the Pyramid Arts Centre.
Those involved will be students from the 2025 cohort for Culture Warrington’s Young Producers scheme. Anyone between 16 and 21, who lives or studies in the town and is interested in arts and culture are encouraged to apply to be one of 12 producers.
Applications open on Monday, September 22nd and close on Monday, October 6th. The scheme, which launched in 2024, was created to give more young people a way into the creative industries by offering real-life experience of managing events at a professional level.
The initiative also aims to develop homegrown talent, giving participants the chance to develop skills in project management, event production, marketing, budgeting and teamwork. Each year, participants work with industry professionals, lead their own events and play a major role in Warrington Arts Festival 2026.
Over the last two intakes there have been 24 young producers, mentor Laura Mercer said: “By the end they’re like different people. They’re confident talking to everyone, they’re bursting with ideas, and they can problem solve and think on their feet to come up with creative solutions.”
Previous teams have gained valuable opportunities including working behind the scenes at Neighbourhood Weekender, securing jobs at Parr Hall, producing touring shows and supporting local events such as Warrington Mela.
One standout success is Great Sankey resident Lizzy Thomson, who studied Production Arts at Priestley College. After joining the original cohort she went on to become Assistant Producer at Culture Warrington.
Lizzy said: “Every day I feel so lucky to be part of the team. Even the small things like how you conduct meetings and how you speak to artists was so interesting and I feel like I’ve learnt so much thanks to the support of the team. They’ve been so lovely, and I really feel like I’ve built my skills. It’s really powered me to go into the creative industries.”
Highlights for Lizzy include playing a key role in this year’s Family Garden Party at Warrington Arts Festival, being creative lead on the Elf Experience and Grotto for Warrington’s Weekend Wonderland, and organising Scratch Night. She has since become a peer mentor for current Young Producers, supporting projects such as the recent ‘Made by Me’ film festival.
All applications open on Monday, September 22nd and close at the end of the day on Monday, October 6th. You can find more information here – https://culturewarrington.org/2025/09/10/young-producers-callout/
